How is this different from a facelift, a peel, or injectables?
Matrica is engineered to reduce the rate of collagen degradation. The gel is designed to act on the cellular mechanisms governing collagen synthesis, organization, and preservation, at the level of the fibroblast that produces it.
The above listed procedures are different interventions aimed at accomplishing different goals.
A facelift repositions tissue that has descended. A peel injures the epidermis and upper dermis in a controlled way and recruits the wound-healing response to help rebuild them. Injectables replace lost volume. Each is precise and can be effective at what it is meant to accomplish, and each acts on the face as it stands today.
They are drastic actions for immediate effects.
However, these interventions do not alter the rate at which the collagen in the skin degrades. This rate helps govern how the face looks in the decade following any of them.

What results can I expect, and when?
This is a structural approach, not a cosmetic “quick fix.” The mission is to rebuild and protect the architecture of the skin over time. Visible changes to the skin are results of that rebuilding, and like anything worthwhile, those changes compound with time. Expect results that bear more resemblance in time and scale to regular exercise than to surgical interventions.

Is it worth it for someone in their 50s, 60s, 70s, or beyond to use the Matrica gel?
There is a biological answer and a philosophical one.
The biological answer is that the mechanisms the gel is designed to act on are present at every age, and some of them matter more with age.
Fibroblast responsiveness declines as skin ages, but the transcriptional pathways governing collagen production remain addressable. Glycation increases with age, and advanced glycation end products accumulate across a lifetime, stiffening the collagen already in place. Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity, which degrades collagen, increases with age and with cumulative sun exposure.
The gel is designed to prompt upregulation of glyoxalase I, the enzyme that clears the reactive precursors to those end products, and to suppress MMP expression at the level of the gene.
Both issues are more severe at seventy than at forty. We cannot anticipate a specific result at a specific age.
The philosophical answer is that we believe the pursuit of the superlative does not end at a given age. Whether any pursuit is worth undertaking is not for us to answer for someone else.

I am scheduled for a facelift in the near future. Would it make sense to use the Matrica gel after my facelift?
Yes. A facelift is not one and done.
A facelift repositions tissue, and the subsequent healing response can be substantial. However, a facelift does not alter the rate at which the collagen in the repositioned skin degrades. The collagen continues to break down as it did before, and the skin draped over the new structure continues to age.
The longevity of the facelift’s result is therefore a function of the structural matrix underneath it. Matrica is engineered for the decades after surgery, designed to act on the mechanisms governing collagen synthesis, its assembly, and its preservation.
Please note that only the operating surgeon determines when a skincare regimen can resume after the surgery.

What is the reason for applying the Matrica gel only several evenings per month, and not nightly?
The Matrica gel is not a conventional active. Most topical formulations deliver a chemical signal that degrades within hours, which is why they are reapplied every night to provide some effect.
Matrica is designed to work at the level of gene expression. Protein synthesis, secretion into the dermis, and organization within the extracellular matrix run on a course of weeks.
Nightly application would not accelerate that course. The interval is designed so that the signal is not needlessly repeated into a cell already executing on previous signals. Additionally, the Matrica cadence ensures that the dermal penetration enhancement system is not applied nightly to a barrier that has not been given time to recover.

Will 7-10 nights per month eventually change to a specific number of nights?
Yes. Our R&D will determine the correct number of applications per month. Each monthly set of the Matrica gel will then ship with that number.

How do I use my other skincare products with the Matrica gel?
During the 7-10 consecutive night application period, any other product normally applied at night must be discontinued. This includes retinoids, exfoliating acids, and growth-factor or peptide products.
The reason is the dermal penetration enhancement system. It is engineered to carry the active molecules through a barrier built to keep molecules of that size out, and while it is doing that, the barrier is more permeable to everything else present on the skin. Another product applied alongside the Matrica gel penetrates further than it was formulated to penetrate. Other skincare products were not designed or tested for those conditions.
Gentle cleansing is permitted. Moisturizer and sunscreen remain as daily applications.
For the remainder of the month, the normal routine can resume if one wishes.
However, note that Matrica is being engineered to take the place of the pre-existing anti-aging routine.

Is it possible to go outside in the sun after applying the gel?
Unlike with in-office microneedling, there is no need to stay out of the sun for multiple days. However, note that the Matrica gel is to be applied prior to bedtime, to allow for a longer contact duration.

It seems like there may be some steps involved in setting up the product for use. Will Matrica members receive any training on how to properly utilize the product?
Yes. Preparing the gel takes about thirty seconds.
We utilize the same container and closure system that is used for biomaterials prepared in an operating room. We do not utilize “cosmetic” containers or vials, as these are built with looser tolerances for assembly and fit that result in variability during use.
This format is utilized due to our engineering approach. The active molecules are lyophilized and sealed, separate from the dermal penetration enhancement eluent, and the two are combined at the moment of use.
A commercial formulation has to survive eighteen months pre-mixed on a shelf, and then survive a container being opened and closed daily.
We will provide an easily understandable video guide.
Additionally, depending upon your location, we will come to your residence to provide training.

For how long do I need to use the Matrica gel? Do I use it for a 1-year term only?
The mechanisms that the Matrica gel is designed to influence are driven while the gel is in use. Discontinuing the gel would eventually result in the structure returning to its previous state.
The answer, then, is every year, for as long as the first meeting point with the world is a priority. As with any endeavor, persistence is the only approach that yields the desired outcome.

RESPONSE

Does the Matrica gel exist yet, and what does my deposit secure?
No, it does not yet exist. We are presently in development.
Customer escrow deposits are legally separated from the business (similar to any other transaction that utilizes an escrow) and cannot be touched for any purpose until the Matrica gel is ready for shipment.
The deposit secures the customer’s place as one of the first forty-five users of the gel.

RESPONSE
]
What happens to my deposit if the science does not validate, or the product cannot be made to the surgical standard?
The deposit is returned in full.
If the development output does not meet the standard we have set, or if the product cannot be made to that standard, we will say so plainly and every deposit will be released in full. We bear all transaction costs.
While a customer carries the risk of timing, they do not carry the risk of loss.

RESPONSE

What if I change my mind about moving forward after I placed my deposit in escrow?
An escrow deposit can be withdrawn at any point before the gel is ready for dispatch. Please send us an email and it will be returned within five to seven business days. We bear all transaction costs.
Kindly note that this would preclude the individual from becoming a customer in the future.

RESPONSE

How is the product guaranteed? Do I receive a refund if I am not satisfied after several months?
No, unfortunately we are unable to make a refund if satisfaction is not met.
The physiology of each individual varies, and therefore it would be misleading to claim a specific result for all customers.
What is guaranteed is the surgical-caliber development process that we control. Before dispatch, the risk is ours. If the science does not validate, or the gel cannot be made to the standard, every deposit is released in full.
Our research & development is conducted with study arms representative of the individuals likely to use the gel, spanning skin ages, textures, and ethnicities.

Do immediate family members count towards a customer’s two referrals per year?
No. A customer can refer their spouse and children and still have two referrals available that year.
